Cincinnati Has A Super Hero

Cincinnati police have a new ally in their fight against crime, whether they want it or not. He calls himself Shadow Hare, and he wears a mask and a cape to conceal his true identity. "We help enforce the law by doing what we can in legal standards, so we carry handcuffs, pepper spray … all the legal weapons," said Shadow Hare. "We will do citizen's arrests. We will intervene on crimes if there is one happening in front of us." He's Cincinnati's own version of a superhero fighting crime and injustice where he finds it.

The man behind Shadow Hare's mask is 21 years old and from Milford, OH. Those are the only clues to his true identity that he will reveal. Shadow Hare said he was abused as a child and grew up in foster homes, perhaps leading him to a life helping others. Shadow Hare is not alone in his quest to fight crime. He heads up a group of men -- and one woman -- called the "Allegiance of Heroes." The members communicate with each other in online forums. Among the members are Aclyptico in Pennsylvania, Wall Creeper in Colorado and Master Legend in Florida. The authorities don't always take him seriously. In one encounter with a corrections officer, Shadow Hare was greeted with a chuckle and a look of disbelief. Shadow Hare said he and his team are not deterred by the criticism. He remains focused on trying to make Cincinnati a better place, whether it's fighting crime or feeding the homeless.

This guy probably has the Blankman script memorized. I applaud his desire to help rid the Nasty Natti of crime, but he could get himself hurt. Cincinnati has a long and well publicized history of racial tension. Shadow Hare may run up on the wrong brother and get his pound cake turned into red velvet. He doesn't carry any weapons that could stop serious criminals. If he did, the Cincinnati police would probably consider him a vigilante and try to get him off the streets. I'm glad this dude is trying to make a positive contribution to society though. The Shadow Hare stated that he had a rough upbringing. I know a lot of people turn to drugs or become reclusive to cope with the difficulties they experienced during their childhood. Shadow Hare should be commended for his resilience and optimism. Bobby Brown recorded a song called "On Our Own" for the Ghost Busters II soundtrack. The Ghost Busters, like the Allegiance of Heroes, are comprised of average citizens would want to make the world a better place. This song is their anthem.

Now I find out that nothing is given
Don't know where the cards may fall
All I know is that we gotta get it
We've gotta make it on our own
Well I guess we're gonna have to take control
On our own
If it's up to us, we've got to take it home
On our own
